JSW MG Motor India has made a significant leap towards sustainable energy solutions with the launch of India’s first high-voltage second-life battery, developed in collaboration with Vision Mechatronics under the ‘Project Revive’ initiative. This innovative product, revealed at The Battery Show 2024 in Greater Noida, repurposes used electric vehicle (EV) batteries, extending their lifecycle and reducing waste, which is a vital step towards fostering an eco-friendly EV ecosystem in India.

Powered by an indigenous Battery Management System (BMS), the second-life battery will initially serve as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) at an industrial facility in Pune, showcasing its capability for large-scale energy storage. Vision Mechatronics played a pivotal role in the battery’s development, ensuring high performance and safety with advanced monitoring and balancing systems.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at JSW MG Motor India, emphasized the company’s commitment to a circular economy, highlighting the innovation of the high-voltage battery with an indigenous BMS.

Rashi Gupta, Managing Director of Vision Mechatronics, echoed this vision, introducing “ReLive,” their collaborative product, as a safe and sustainable solution for industrial power systems. This initiative not only demonstrates the potential of repurposed EV batteries but also sets the stage for future advancements in energy storage technologies.
