Resolve AI Raises $35 Million Seed Funding to Automate Software Operations for Engineers

Resolve AI , a cutting-edge startup focused on automating software operations, has secured $35 million in seed funding. Led by prominent venture capital firm Greylock, the funding underscores growing interest in AI-driven tools that aim to enhance software engineering efficiency.

This investment is the largest made by Greylock this year, a firm known for supporting industry leaders like Airbnb and Meta. Additional contributions came from Stanford Professor Fei-Fei Li and Jeff Dean, Chief Scientist at Google DeepMind, adding further credibility to the round.

Resolve AI was founded earlier this year by Spiros Xanthos, formerly an executive at Splunk. The company develops AI tools that autonomously address and resolve production issues, significantly reducing engineers’ time spent on operational tasks, including incident response. This enables engineers to shift their focus back to developing new solutions.

Unlike most AI tools in the engineering space, which prioritize code generation, Resolve AI targets the operational side of software engineering. Xanthos emphasizes that engineers spend significant time troubleshooting, managing infrastructure, and handling on-call duties—tasks that demand not only an understanding of code but also in-depth knowledge of specific production environments. Resolve AI’s proprietary agentic systems are designed to manage alerts and incidents autonomously using platforms like AWS and GitHub, often requiring little to no human intervention.

“Our aim is to remove the stress and time consumption from these tasks, providing a more intelligent and effective tool,” Xanthos explained.

Initially self-funded, Resolve AI has already attracted key startup clients like DataStax. The newly acquired funding will be used to expand the team from 16 to nearly double its size by the end of the year. The company also plans to enhance its AI tools to tackle additional tasks such as incident prevention and cloud cost optimization.

“AI’s role in transforming software engineering is one of the most exciting opportunities in the generative AI space,” said Saam Motamedi, a partner at Greylock who led the investment in Resolve AI. “We look for businesses where the return on investment is clear. Resolve AI’s solutions are in a highly measurable space, which has enabled them to move swiftly from proof of concept to production with customers.”
