Couple Who Sold Their Flat To Fund Samosa Singh Now Run A Brand Valued At About ₹200 Cr

Two biotech professionals quit their corporate careers to give the humble samosa a modern, hygienic makeover. Nidhi and Shikhar Veer Singh, who met studying biotechnology at Kurukshetra University, opened the first Samosa Singh outlet in Bengaluru in February 2016. Nidhi has said they sold their ₹80 lakh flat that year to fund a bigger kitchen.

Today Samosa Singh is a multi-city quick-service brand that makes its samosas in a centralised facility to keep quality consistent. It is backed by Fireside Ventures, She Capital and Equanimity Investments, and its valuation was estimated at about $20.6 million, or roughly ₹200 crore, after a funding extension in January 2025. Reports say profitability remains a challenge as it balances expansion against operating costs.
