Bariflo's AI Innovation Turns Industrial Wastewater into Reusable Water

Factories use large amounts of water, but treating the wastewater they generate can be expensive and difficult to manage. Odisha-based startup Bariflo Cybernetics is addressing this challenge with AI-powered technology that helps factories monitor and improve their wastewater treatment processes. Using sensors to track water quality, the system helps determine how much treatment chemicals are needed and how the process can be made more efficient. According to the founder, the technology has demonstrated the potential to reduce energy consumption by around 25%.

Founded by Mrityunjay Sahu, Bariflo has conducted pilot projects with Indian Oil's R&D centre and is preparing for another pilot with BPCL. The startup has also secured ₹2 crore in milestone-linked funding from MC² Plus to support further pilots and commercial expansion. By helping industries treat wastewater more efficiently and improve opportunities for water reuse, Bariflo is showing how Indian technology can address an important environmental challenge.
