Chennai DeepTech Startup Torus Motion Brings Indigenous Axial Flux Motors To EV And Industrial Markets
India’s push to build its own electric mobility technology is gaining momentum. Torus Motion, a Chennai-based deeptech startup, is bringing its indigenously developed axial flux motors and controllers to the market, targeting electric vehicles, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and industrial applications.
Founded in 2019 by Vignesh M, Vibhakar Senthil and Abbhi Vignesh K, the company has spent years developing compact, high-efficiency motor systems designed to reduce dependence on imported powertrain technologies. Its product range includes motors delivering up to 20 kW of peak power, with quoted peak efficiency of up to 98%. Backed by a seed round led by TNIFMC, Torus Motion is working to strengthen India's capabilities in advanced electric motor manufacturing.
