Vimag Labs Begins Production Of Magnet-Free Electric Motors, Targets ₹100 Cr By FY28

Most electric motors depend on rare-earth magnets. Vimag Labs says it has built one that doesn’t. The company has begun production at its first facility in MET City, Jhajjar, Haryana, using its patented Virtual Magnet Synchronous Motor (VMSM) technology, which replaces physical permanent magnets with electronically controlled, software-defined magnetic fields. CEO and co-founder Manish Seth says the motors match or beat conventional ones on efficiency and power density, and that the company is targeting ₹100 crore in revenue in FY28.

Vimag has exported its first production batch of controllers to the United States and Germany, and plans to invest ₹50 crore in phases in the 10,000 sq ft plant. It also recently raised $5 million in a Series A round led by Accel, with Chakra Growth Fund and Thinkuvate participating. Its immediate focus is electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, buses and trucks.
