Soket Labs And ZenteiQ Launch Indigenous AI Foundation Models Under IndiaAI Mission

Two Indian startups have released their own AI foundation models. Soket Labs launched EKA-1, and ZenteiQ AiTech Innovations launched Dhīr 2B and Dhīr 5B, unveiled in New Delhi under the IndiaAI Mission in the presence of MeitY Secretary S Krishnan. Both teams were selected under the mission’s IndiaAI Innovation Centre pillar and received subsidised national AI compute.

According to Indian Opinion, EKA-1 is a 26.3-billion-parameter model trained on 7.5 trillion tokens that supports all 22 scheduled Indian languages and English. The Dhīr models are open-source and support English and 10 Indian languages. The models are available through the government’s AIKosh platform for researchers, enterprises and the public.
