A longer flight time could transform how drones are used in surveillance, emergency response and agriculture. Cellegant Energy Systems Pvt Ltd Energy Systems, an IIT Gandhinagar professor-founded startup, has raised ₹2.61 crore to develop indigenous hydrogen fuel-cell systems designed to keep drones airborne for longer.
The funding comes from GVFL Prarambh Fund Trust, CoCreate Aarambh and IIEC, IIT Gandhinagar’s incubator. The startup plans to use the capital to demonstrate a 35-kg hydrogen-powered drone, advance its technology, protect its intellectual property and expand its team. Its innovation could open new possibilities for long-endurance UAVs and other autonomous applications.
