Decentro Enters the Soundbox Market with New QR Payment Devices for Merchants

Bengaluru-based fintech startup Decentro, led by Co-Founder and CEO Rohit Taneja, has entered the physical merchant-payment device segment with the launch of its new Static QR and Dynamic QR Soundboxes. The devices are designed to help merchants receive instant voice confirmations for UPI payments at their counters. While the Static QR model provides audio alerts for incoming payments, the Dynamic QR version features a display that generates transaction-specific QR codes, along with keypad and NFC capabilities. The devices also offer connectivity options including 4G, 2G backup and optional Wi-Fi, making them suitable for kirana stores, cafés, salons and other retail businesses.

Decentro aims to deploy more than 1 million Soundboxes over the next two-plus years and is seeking partnerships with large aggregators and brands to expand distribution. The launch marks an expansion of the company's fintech infrastructure beyond digital payment APIs into physical merchant locations, allowing it to serve businesses at the point of payment acceptance. Through this move, Decentro is looking to strengthen its presence in India's growing digital payments ecosystem.
