Astrobase Plans ₹500 Cr Rocket Engine Plant In Karnataka, Targets 1,250 Jobs

Bengaluru-based Astrobase Space Technologies plans to invest ₹500 crore in a rocket engine manufacturing facility in Karnataka, Industries Minister M B Patil announced. The proposed plant, on 10 acres at the Adinarayana Hosahalli industrial area, would make rocket engines, propulsion systems and launch vehicle structures, with an annual capacity of up to 40 engines and the potential to create over 1,250 jobs.
Founded in 2024 by Neeraj Khandelwal, a co-founder of CoinDCX, and former ISRO scientist Devakumar Thammisetty, Astrobase says it is developing India’s first full-flow staged combustion engine, a technology pursued by only a handful of companies worldwide. Its indigenous engine, Everest, was unveiled in August 2026. The company aims to scale its annual payload delivery capacity to 100 tonnes by 2032 and 1,000 tonnes by 2040.
