Attox Research Laboratories Is Working To Make Antibiotic Testing Faster And More Precise

Chennai-based Attox Research Laboratories is developing Bactolizer, a diagnostic device designed to identify which antibiotics are effective against bacteria in a patient’s sample, along with the appropriate dosage. Using an electrochemical cartridge and a specialised algorithm, the device aims to deliver results in approximately 30 minutes to two hours, compared with the 24–48 hours typically required by conventional testing methods.
Founded in 2023, the startup reports 94% accuracy and is preparing for clinical trials involving around 10,000 patients as it works towards regulatory approval. Attox raised ₹1 crore in pre-seed funding in March 2026 and plans to raise a further ₹5 crore to support its go-to-market efforts. Its technology could help doctors make more informed treatment decisions and contribute to the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
