A business that began with an investment of around ₹25,000 reportedly grew into a ₹2.5 crore revenue operation. ScrapDeal, a Pune-based startup, is turning everyday scrap collection into a more convenient, organised service.
The idea came from founder Jayesh Pakhale’s own experience. During his college days, he struggled to sell more than 100 kg of scrap, highlighting how inconvenient the process could be.
That experience inspired him to build a doorstep collection service that allows customers to schedule pickups, have their scrap weighed transparently and receive payment without the usual hassle of finding a local scrap dealer.
According to a recent report, ScrapDeal recorded ₹2.5 crore in revenue in FY2025–26 after starting with an initial investment of approximately ₹20,000–₹25,000. Its business model connects households and businesses with scrap collection and recycling, addressing both convenience and the need to recover reusable materials.
The story is a reminder that startup opportunities can emerge from ordinary problems when someone finds a practical way to solve them.
Would you use a doorstep scrap collection service, or do you prefer selling scrap to your local dealer?
